Community and Support

Connect and Collaborate: Engage with a supportive community of coaches and fellow cohort members inside Brave Learner Home. Share experiences, challenges, and wins in a space dedicated to mutual growth and encouragement. You'll be added to the Brave Learner Home community for four months as part of your training membership.

Training Schedule

Our comprehensive four-month training program kicks off in August and runs through December 3. This gives you ample time to learn Brave Writer principles and practices and to integrate our program into your homeschool while having direct access to coaches and members of the community.

August
What is writing? (An overview of your BW program) 

Let’s start at the very beginning—a very good place to start. Join Dawn and Julie as they explain the nature of the writing task and how Brave Writer teaches writing in the products you’ve purchased. Be prepared for a “blown mind” as we upend your assumptions about the writing task. Trust us: once you catch on, teaching writing becomes much easier!

What is good writing? (The proper role of mechanics in writing and how to teach them)

Are you one of those parents who just wants to know when to worry? Is it okay if your child insists on using only lowercase letters? Is the entertaining story disqualified by missing commas and absent dialogue punctuation? Dawn and Julie will help you understand what constitutes “good writing” so you can give the right level of emphasis to the mechanics of writing.

Troubleshooting and Demonstrations of the Practices (Neurodivergence, resistant kids, struggling parents)

It’s perfectly natural for some of the strategies you try to fail. We’ve heard it all and have lots of adaptations for a variety of family types and styles of learning. Join us for demonstrations and a slew of new tools for your writing instruction toolkit.
